This week kaiako pitomata should be started to step up and taking opportunities to teach groups (e.g. literacy & Math) and pockets of whole class teaching (fitness, PE, Science, Shared book etc..). We require the Massey planning template to be used for all independent planning but it is perfectly fine to co plan or for your kaiako pitomata to teach from planning you have provided (e.g. structured literacy).
By now we hope that you have established a positive working relationship with your kaiako pitomata and set expectations and routines. We appreciate you sharing them into your planning and involving them in team and staff meetings.
We are building towards your kaiako pitomata being able to manage multiple groups (to gain an understanding of the logistics of managing multi groups) next week.
Any questions please refer to your practicum handbook or email me J.Hansen1@massey.ac.nz
