Curriculum and pedagogy

Curriculum and Pedagogy courses are sector specific and will allow opportunity to explore the critical issues of diversity in sector specific ways. Implications for curriculum design, assessment, and pedagogy will be critically explored in light of implementing a learning focused culture for all learners.
As part of these courses, inclusive practices such as Universal Design for Learning will be investigated and implemented in design for learning tasks.
Assessment will assist kaiako pitomata to develop the capacity to articulate effective mana-enhancing pedagogical practices and learning activities that promote success for all learners, and actively address inequity and marginalisation. Their role in actively fostering inclusion and countering deficit thinking is central, on the premise that the responsibility for change lies with kaiako and education settings, working collaboratively with ākonga and whānau.
